2 Residential complexes of 7 single and double story houses
Location: Pithos – Ano Mera, Mykonos, Cyclades, Greece
Construction: 2001
Both complexes consist of 7 houses each. The shape of the land and its orientation played a decisive role in the way the residences were placed and how their floor plans were organized.
To secure valuable lighting surfaces and exploitation of good sight the floor plans of the houses are arranged next to one another, all facing the panorama. Open and semi-open spaces were designed in order to have maximum privacy in any kind of living space open or closed.
On the south side of each complex private courtyards have been placed and the common pool area can be found below them. All integrated perfectly into the natural landscape and terrain slope.
The buildings are integrated into the slope and characterized by volumes that are arranged next to one another by height difference following the grounds natural level. This level difference is encountered very often in the housing facades along the streets of Mykonos.
Promenades are formed by paths defined by stone walls which combined with planting provide each residence with the required privacy needed.
